Mardi Himal Trekking

The Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened route with amazing view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges located on the Annapurna region with about 5200m in altitude. Mardi Himal trek is derived from Mount Mardi. This trek is best destination to avoid the crowd as we have to spend most of our trekking hours throughout the forest and the Pasture land. Mardi Himal trek offer best view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu ranges.

The trek starts at Kande which is near to Lumley (the Chherapunji of Nepal) after 1 hours driving from Pokhara. The trail is good, first slowly up, then steeper a bit to Australian Camp (2060m) , The trail is steep; through stone staircase for about 1.5 hours gets to Australian Camp, located on the ridge and having an incredible view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre and Lamjung Himal. Then after that we will be trekking slightly downward to Pathana (1950m) then up again to Deurali (2100m). There is a right turn in Deurali sign posted “Forest Camp” the trail is through jungle, at first up then undulating on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over half way where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and then back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp (2600m). The trail is initially quite steep leaving Forest Camp but soon gets less steep as you again get upon the ridge. The trail leaves Low Camp again in jungle, after walking a while the dense forest become a bit thinner. After that walking about one more hours it will lead us to the open area with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to our left. It is possible to continue trekking for another 4 to 5 hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to High Camp in around 4 hours – This makes a long day but there is also a viewpoint about half way. After that, we return all the way down to Forest camp. After that we will trek to Landruk and end our trek in Nayapul.
